This has a beautiful beach setting, a single dad and a few good twists that I didn’t see coming. I was at the twenty percent mark when the story really took off for me and then I didn’t want to put it down! In the beginning of the story, Cece loses her job, fiancé and moves to a beach town to work at an oyster farm. She had always tried to do the right thing, choosing a man that was a mature adult and a safe career as an actuary and now she is single, with debt and a job that her parents would be ashamed of (but that she actually enjoys). She was desperate for some excitement in her life and now she has it, especially when she meets her new crush who is her neighbor.

The story goes back and forth with Cece’s memories from her past and her new challenges in the present. There were places where the time switches lost me for a moment, but I was intrigued to find out how she got fired at work and what happened with her fiancé. It was also fun to watch her and her neighbor as they got to know each other. I didn’t always agree with Cece’s decisions but the beach descriptions transported me and I enjoyed learning about oysters. There were some quirky side characters that added to the story as well as some surprise twists at the end that I enjoyed.
