The Best I Never Had
The setup for this romcom is a little zany and I couldn’t wait to see how it would all play out. Thea’s sister, Addy, tells her that she is getting married in a month to a man she’s been dating for only three months and asks Thea to be her bridesmaid. Then, Thea is fired from her waitress job due to her quick temper and soon we find out that Owen, the guy she fake dated three years ago, is the groom’s brother! Addy tells Thea she’s worried her fiancé’s family won’t like her and wants the wedding to be perfect. Thea vows it will be the most perfect drama free wedding ever! That, I couldn’t wait to see! What could possibly go wrong?
A month later they’re all at the groom’s family’s Vineyard in the Blue Ridge Mountains and the snarky banter begins! There is lots of family drama and a few of the characters drove me crazy (his mom, her sister) but I was alright with it! I love romcoms and this has plenty of hilarious banter. Thea has a habit of blurting out inappropriate things but Owen didn’t mind. I could feel the chemistry right from the start. I knew I was in for a good time when I read the dedication, “For my short fuse, girlies who fear their passion burns too hot for anyone to hold on”. This guilty pleasure was a fun, steamy, summer read! Thanks to the author, St. Martin’s Griffin and NetGalley for the ARC.
