I had such a good time reading this lighthearted romcom with a fun mystery. Callahan (Cal) is an antique dealer whose ex asks him for help with a stuffed taxidermy goose she found in her great aunt’s attic. The problem is, if he’s caught with the goose, it will mean big trouble (because of the Migratory Bird Treaty). Then Annie, his new temporary assistant stumbles onto it and convinces him to let her do more in the store so he can research the goose to figure out where it legally belongs. When it disappears from the shop, Cal and Annie search together to discover where it’s gone. There is a ton of humor and unique and loveable characters. There’s even a secondary romance between two bird lovers from sixty years ago.

Cal is grieving the death of his mentor who left him his share of the antique store and the apartment above it. Annie is creative and lively and has her own business where she upcycles antiques and sells them online. She has ideas to improve Cal’s antique store but he likes the old ways and is wary to try new things. There really is a wild goose chase and I truly enjoyed the mystery and romance. This is sure to be on my top ten list of favorites this year!
